Title
CloseRinat Kotler is the second in the series of artists who have completed the Q&A I put together to give you more insight into Conjunction 08.
What first interested you in the theme of FANTASTIC, FOUND and FAKE?
Through several conversations I held with different people, I realized that most of us imagine extreme life threatening situations in a way which is similar to the way these situations are represented in film and television. Since I am interested in representations of death and fear of it (as opposed to conversations with people who have actually gone through such extreme circumstances) blurring the borders between fiction and fact allows me to create a piece which deals with this primordial fear.
What is the name of your piece for the festival?
Dark
In your opinion, what has been the most exciting/interesting part of Conjunction 08?
Producing the work is always the most interesting part of the process.
How would you describe yourself as an artist?
Always looking at the horrific side of life J
Who are your biggest influences?
At the moment, Nick Broomfield.
Had you ever visited Stoke-on-Trent prior to your involvement with Conjunction?
Unfortunately no.
What one piece of advice would you give to someone who wanted to practice professionally as an artist?
Give 100 % of yourself in every work that you make.
What’s next for you?
