Title
CloseOn Wednesday 19th November at Staffordshire University’s Film Theatre was Alex Frost’s talk as part of Conjunction 08.
Alex is one of the artists commissioned as part of this year’s festival and his work is in the AirSpace Gallery space.
Alex was a former student of Staffordshire University and has had Solo exhibitions at Milton Keynes Gallery, Spike Island in Bristol, Tramway in Glasgow plus numerous of international venues. The talk gave an interesting insight into his work, and the concepts that run through his practice.
He works in easily found materials for example, tiles, and polymer clay and his work explores the idea of the child-like view of adult sophistication and products that signify this. I personally found strong links to consumerism and the concept that the product makes the man or at least that’s what marketing and product placement tells us!
To see Alex’s work for yourself go to AirSpace Gallery. The exhibition runs until 13th December, 11am till 5pm (Tuesday – Saturday), a must see!
You can also find out more about the artists and the theme of FANTASTIC, FOUND and FAKE join us at the panel discussion at 12pm – 4pm on Saturday 22nd November at the Forum Theatre at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.
